Objective:
The Jumilhac sports club, more commonly known as the USJ, is a soccer club, playing in blue and white colours. With more than 130 members from 6 to 50+, the club is affilliated with the French Football Federation and the various teams compete in the district championships in Dordogne. The club comprises: a veteran team, 2 senior teams, and young members in the categories: over 18s, over 15s, over 13s, Benjamins, Poussins and Beginners which are grouped, under an agreement, with other local clubs. Objectives:

The association organises leisure activities related to offroad vehicles.
Our club unites enthusiasts, family and friends, who organise trips with the objective of promoting tourism and local craftsmen and discovering Jumilhac le Grand and the surrounding area by means of its public roads.
A private offroad driving course is available to members and their guests (novice to advanced levels).

(Friends of the children of Bione)

Objectives:
The association, created in 2001, consists mainly of a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who, for 15 years, have organised motorcycle trips out for the young people of the Bione home for children taken into care. Throughout the year we organise weekend sports or cultural events by motorcycle, plus once per year we organise a gathering of around 50 bikes. The association also organises a bingo evening in the new year and a jumble sale in the summer.

Bouchons d'Amour

Objectives :

Collection of plastic bottle tops
Every year we actively collect plastic bottle tops from bottles with harmless contents such as water, milk, soda etc. In 2008 we sent over 1 tonne to the regional depot in Thiviers. From here the tops go to a recycling depot and the sums earned are used to buy wheelchairs for handicapped persons.

Since inception in may 2005 the association has collected over 5000 tonnes nation wide, sold at around 200€ per tonne.

(Friendship and Gardens)

Objectives:
If you are enthusiastic about gardening, whether novice or expert, come and join us. Our objective is to learn together how to garden better in our Périgord and Limousin gardens. We exchange our knowledge, we listen to the advice of professional speakers, we swap tips and hints and also plants and seeds in a conviviial atmosphere. The debates and discussions often take place in three languages, french, english and dutch, but we always manage to understand each other. The club arranges trips throughout the year: visits to public parks and gardens and to those of our members, also to exhibitions and to growers. The high point of each year is the 'Exhibition and Plant sale' on May 1st in the square at Jumilhac.

Fils et Cordes - The Patchwork Club:

The club is open to anyone who wishes to learn or practice patchwork. No experience of patchwork is needed, just the ability to hand sew and to work independantly between lessons.
Weekly meetings are held on Saturdays between 14h00 and 17h00 from September to December and from January to June in the Maison des Associations, rue des Félibres, Jumilhac le Grand.

Fils et Cordes - Le Club Photo

The photo club is an an informal group that gets together once per month or so to exchange ideas, learn from each other, invite the occasional guest speaker and hopefully hold a show of our work once per year. Other activities include group visits to shows and outings to events or places of interest to provide opportunities to take interesting pictures.


The club is open to everyone who has a camera - even the most simple compact - no expertise required !

Would you like to be (better) understood during your time in France ? Then join 'Allez-y...' and start a practical French course designed for speakers of other languages. With this foundation French course you will learn to speak, understand, read and write sufficient French to manage comfortably in most common daily situations. In addition, you will learn a lot about the country, the people and their customs.

Lessons are given by a multi-lingual teacher in the 'Maison des Associations' in Jumilhac.

The two ‘vide greniers’ (boot fairs) on the 14th July and 15th August each attract around 100 exhibitors and visitors who come from all over in search of bargains and perhaps even a special treasure.
